    Abstract [en]

    Colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer in Sweden. The impact of diet has long been studied regarding to the development of this disease. To educate and support patients are important parts of the nurse´s profession. The background presents the most common dietary components which is important for our health. Given the responsibility nurses have, the aim of this literature study was to investigate and identify a link between diet and colorectal cancer. The chosen method was a literature review based on eight well-selected scientific articles. The results strengthened previous research, that nutrition has an impact on the development of colorectal cancer. This literature review found a relationship between the disease and fiber, fruit and vegetables, dairy products, calcium, vitamin D, water, and at last meat.
