Abstract: Male violence against women is a major social problem. Our purpose in this paper was to investigate which help is available for men who have problems with violent behavior in today's society. We examined where the help is found and what treatment methods that are relevant for these individuals. In addition, we studied how violent behavior is explained in the literature. We tried to give an idea of how men themselves speak about their violent behavior in different discussion forums. To answer our questions, we used three different sources of information: literature as the main basis, an interview and a search on the internet in various discussion forums. In our study, we have chosen two theoretical perspectives, the cognitive theory and powerlessness theory. In a general outline, our results demonstrated that violence can be explained with the help of childhood, quest for control and power, inappropriate emotions and expectations, biological and social factors. There are three key factors that are generally regarded as the cause of the violence; they are powerlessness, gender roles and the structure of society. Our second research question showed that men do not talk about their problems. One of the reasons is the lack of insight and the denial of the problem, another reason may be because of the shame, since this type of violence is very taboo in society. Our third issue was to identify where assistance is available for violent men.
