Background: Aging involves major changes both mentally, physically and socially. During the 21st century hospital beds and institutional care has been decreasing which means that more elderly people receive care in there in homes. Aim: The aim of this study was to investigate older people's experiences of being dependent on home care. Method: Qualitative semi-structured interviews following an interview guide was used and the interviews were analyzed using latent content analysis. Results: The results are based on seven interviews with people over 65 years with different levels of need for help from home care. The result of transcription of the interviews were security, insecurity, waiting, lack of staff and adjustment. Conclusions: Being dependent on home care meant for many of the older one big change. It was also found from the survey that a large part of the day is spent waiting for home care staff. Staff shortages meant that some experienced nursing situation as stressful for both parties.
