A fundamental principle in Swedish healthcare is the nurse’s task to promote health, prevent illness, restore health, relieve suffering and respect the patient’s right of self-determination and integrity. The aim of this study is to investigate how nurses should conduct to euthanasia. The method of this study is literature study where 10 scientific articles after perusal, examination and analysing have been presented. The result shows that the ethical principles often contradict each other and practically and morally makes it difficult to nurses to conduct to when patients wishes to end their lives. A majority of the nurses in the studies think that the patient’s right of self-determination outweigh the ethical difficulty.
