As a newly graduated nurse, it can be difficult to know how the best possible support and answer can be offered to the bereaved related to sudden and unexpected deaths. The nurse may come in contact with bereaved relatives throughout their working lives. The study's objective is to be a tool when good nursing and answering grieving relatives is applied to prevent illness and promote health. The aim of the study is to highlight important aspects for the nurse when answering relatives of sudden and unexpected death victims, by nurses and relatives experiences. The result is based on what emerged from analysis of 10 scientific articles. In this literature study it was important for the relatives to receive information about privacy, ethics, religion and laws, and written information about what relatives should do after a death. Relatives were left with unanswered questions, such as questions about the cause of death and additional information about the disease process. The authors of this study did not consider that any of the studies had used adequate or sufficient follow-up, for the bereaved relatives. For further research an empirical study in Sweden, regarding the lack of follow-up after a sudden would be of value.
