Aim: The aim of this literature review is to systematically analyze scientific evidence of the effect of education on the use of nursing diagnosis with nurses and nursing students. Background: Nursing diagnosis is a part of the nursing process, which is a tool for guidance of nursing documentation in a systematic way, with the goal of obtaining good nursing. Lack of usage is showed in previous research which also indicate lack of knowledge and lack of time as possible causes. Method: 10 articles were included after systematic database searches in CINAHL, Cochrane Library, PubMed and PsycINFO. The articles have been reviewed for quality and a manifest content analysis has been completed. Result: Education in different formation generates a positive effect on the use of nursing diagnosis. The themes that arose were: The quality of nursing diagnosis; The quantity of nursing diagnosis; The effect on the nursing process; and Personal factors. Conclusion: Education leads to better quality and a greater use of nursing diagnosis. Remaining steps of the nursing process will be positively influenced as well as the attitude towards nursing diagnosis.
