Stroke is the third most common cause of death and every year strikes around 30 000 people in Sweden. In one blow, stroke can bring a sudden change for patient’s integrity and quality of life. The purpose of this study was to describe nurses’ role around stroke survivors’ and patients’ experience of quality of life. The question at issued as used was: how can the nurse help stroke survivors’ to reach a good quality of life? Which factors influenced the patient’s quality of life? Are there any differences in quality of life when it concerns stroke survivors' of men and woman? This study was based on thirteen scientific articles. The articles were reviewed according to Willman's et al (2006) record of quality assessment of quantitative and qualitative scientific articles. The result in this study showed that psychological, physical and social aspects have an effect on the patients’ quality of life. Depression was a common problem that caused mental illness among stroke affected people. Patients with low quality of life did experience restrictions in activities in their daily life, social problems and had decreased vitality and emotional limitations. It is important that the nurse motivates the patients’ success with some kind of award and encourage. It is also important that the patients’ personality, temperament and functional and neurological state should be respected.
