    Abstract [en]

We have investigated two different school environments, teaching out in the schoolyard and the classroom. The aim was to compare the schoolyard environment with classroom environment and its impact on teaching. We examined the various educational way to learn how to make learning enjoyable, both in the classroom and out in the schoolyard. In this study, we observed a class in a great neighborhood in a large city in southern Sweden. The class was divided into half grade in which one half the class would be in the classroom and the second half the class out on the playground to see how instruction looks in their environment. Research suggests that learning is more enjoyable out there in the schoolyard and the students' creativity and imagination extends out in the schoolyard. Students may also experience their own learning with all their senses. In previous research into the classroom, it is among other things written about how the classroom environment should be structured. For example, the furniture should be comfortable for students and there should be sound insulation. Our conclusions after the study is that learning can be enjoyable both at the playground and the classroom, but it depends on how teaching is organized.
