    Abstract [en]

The term treatment is not always obvious or easy to define. However, it’s evident that patients in health care should regardless of problem or illness receive treatment and be treated with respect. Aim: This literature review aim to increase the knowledge of how patients with overweight/obesity experience the treatment they receive from nurses. The following two questions were to be answered: How does patients with overweight/obesity experience treatment when they are in contact with health services? What are the nurse’s attitudes towards patients with overweight/obesity? Method: This literature study consists of nine quality-controlled scientific articles. The method is based on Febe Friberg book, Dags för uppsats (2006). Results: After review and analysis the articles two themes where revealed: treatment and attitudes. Overall the result showed that patients mainly had negative experiences of treatment from nurses. Also nurses had primarily negative attitudes towards patients with overweight/obesity.
