The aim of this paper was to study how alcohol directly effects the athletic performance. A group of five healthy, trained men in their mid twenties performed three different tests on two seperate occasion. Ten hours before the second round of test, the group consumed alcohol and reached an average BAL of 1,2. The tests messured rated V02-max, explosive and isometric strength of the skeletal muscle in the participants right leg. The researchgroup was to small for making generalizations but the results showed a tendensy of acute alcohol intake having a negative influence on athletic perfomance. Previous research has showed that alcohol has numerous effects on several different biological processes. Some of these effects may impair on athletic performance, but how much is still unknown.
