Objectives: The purpose of the study was to examine if the production method affects retention, surface roughness and marginal and internal fit regarding cobalt-chromium alloy (Co-Cr) single crowns. Materials and methods: The production methods examined were laser-sintering (LS), milling (M) and milled wax – lost wax (ML). To evaluate the fit the replica method was used. Differences in cement film thickness were statistically analyzed using one-way ANOVA and Mann-Whitney tests. The surface topography was measured using interferometry. Differences were statistically analyzed using Kruskall-Wallis and Mann-Whitney tests. Retention tests were made using a universal testing machine. Differences in tensile strength were submitted to Mann-Whitney test. Results: Regarding all measurement points per crown LS showed a significantly better fit than ML. At the margins LS had a significant smaller cement space compared to both ML and M. At the chamfer LS showed significantly smaller cement space compared to ML. At the center of the axial walls LS had a significantly smaller cement space compared to ML and M. M showed a smaller average deviation of the surface topography than both ML and LS. ML displayed smaller values than LS. Regarding retention no significant differences between the production groups were detected.

Syfte: Syftet med studien var att undersöka huruvida produktionsmetoden påverkar retention, ytråhet och passform på singelkronor i koboltkromlegering (Co-Cr). Material och metod: De produktionsmetoder som undersöktes var lasersintring (LS), fräsning (M) och fräsning-gjutning (ML). För att utvärdera passformen användes replikametoden. Skillnader i passform analyserades med one-way ANOVA och Mann-Whitney test. Hättornas inre ytråhet mättes med hjälp av interferometri och statistiska skillnader analyserades med Kruskall-Wallis och Mann-Whitney test. Retentionstest gjordes med hjälp av en Universal Testing Machine. Skillnader mellan grupperna analyserades statistiskt med Mann-Whitney test. Resultat: LS uppvisade statistiskt signifikant bättre passform än ML avseende alla mätpunkter sammanlagt. Marginalt uppvisade LS statistiskt signifikant mindre utrymme för cement än både ML och M. I chamferpreparationens mitt uppmättes statistiskt signifikant lägre värden för cementutrymmet hos LS jämfört med ML. Vid mittpunkterna på de axiala väggarna uppvisade LS statistiskt signifikant bättre passform jämfört med ML och M. M visade en lägre ytråhet än både ML och LS. ML uppvisade en lägre ytråhet än LS. Ingen statistisk signifikant skillnad kunde påvisas mellan grupperna gällande retention.
