Abstract The aim and purpose of this study has been to examine how Swedish teaching aids portray the Spanish-speaking person in their texts. The textbook chosen is commonly handed in schools around Sweden. I have used Norman Faiclough´s model for a critical discourse analysis to examine how these textbooks portray the Spanish speaking person. In the analysis I used theories behind social constructivism as a springboard and starting point which also has a connection to Fairclough´s model of critical discourse. This essay will explain and conclude any findings of prominent indications of stereotypical patterns of action and opinions given the pupils through the textbooks and its authors.
